Simon Potten
I am delighted to be joining the East Surrey Governors’ Corporation. I have worked in education for 28 years and have been a Senior Leader in schools since 2001. I am currently working as Headteacher at Oakwood School, Horley, having previously enjoyed a successful first headship at Robertsbridge Community College in East Sussex for five years.
I have led both schools to a position of strength with their pupil outcomes and have secured good Ofsted ratings in each case. Therefore, I feel well-versed in the national educational landscape and look forward to using this experience for the benefit of all stakeholders at the College.
I have worked in a diverse range of schools and with students of all abilities, from diverse cultures, including those with special needs and profound disability. This wide-ranging experience has equipped me well to fully understand true inclusion and I remain passionate about supporting students of all abilities, race and background. In spite of its recent complexities, education still excites and inspires me!
I am happily married with four children and in my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, walking on the Downs and travelling.
