Frozen Festivities at The Grange

Aviation students had an early start in December, as they boarded an 08:30 flight to Belfast International Airport.
The aim of the day trip was to see 3 units they are studying in action; these included Handling Air Passengers, Airport Operations and Flight Operations. On arrival at the airport, the students waited behind to discover more about the Crew and their roles. The Captain and First Officer invited the students into the cockpit and went over the different controls and process, and answered questions they had about careers in the aviation industry.
The students and staff also appreciated hearing from the CSD (Cabin Services Director), and were grateful for the crew members’ time spent with the students, despite a quick turnaround!
At the airport, the students had a look round the facilities and observed the arrival and departure processes. They had free time during the day, and visited the Christmas markets, before heading back for their evening departure.
Hear from some of the students as they share their highlights of the trip:
“It was a fantastic experience and brought the learning experience to life, as we had been learning about these processes in class.”
Alex, Aviation Operations Level 3
“I enjoyed the opportunity to experience the inside of a commercial aircraft, giving an insight into the career of a pilot”
Cameron, Aviation Operations Level 3
“I loved everything about the trip - the captain talked about the benefit of joining the airline as the company is searching for more female pilots.”
Esha, Aviation Operations Level 3
