Criminology & Forensic Science Workshop

Criminology & Forensic Science Workshop

Date: 26 February 2020

Students from Applied Science and Public Services had a visit from Paul Cunningham at Zakon Training for a workshop on Criminology and Forensic Science. Paul, a retired officer from Humberside police, provided the students with a crime to courtroom scenario of a homicide, which the students had to try and solve.

The details of the case all came from a real-life scenario Paul worked on with his time in the force, and he showed the students the range of processes you need to go through when investigating a crime.

It was an interactive day where the students listened to re-enacted phone calls, looked through case files and got to study a crime scene where they analysed the evidence and noted down any clues of who could be the culprit of the murder. The students were also able to ask advice and questions throughout the day regarding different aspects of working on this type of investigation.
