Higher Education & Professional Courses Awards 2022

Higher Education & Professional Courses Awards 2022

Date: 24 October 2022

Amongst the celebration of Colleges Week, East Surrey College’s Annual Higher Education & Professional Courses Awards returned for the first time since 2019 last Friday evening. Friends & family, along with the College’s staff and students celebrated their successes and achievements in completing their Higher Education or Professional courses.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our award ceremonies for 2020 and 2021 were postponed, which meant our 2022 Awards were bigger and better by celebrating the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022. The courses that were awarded included Business, Accounting & IT, Construction, Engineering, Education & Early Years, Public Services & Sports, Healthcare & Counselling, as well as courses from Reigate School of Art.

We welcomed over 150 guests to our awards ceremony who received a welcome talk from Richard Pearce, Director of Higher Education and Jayne Dickinson, Chief Executive of Orbital South Colleges, who highlighted the dedication and success of the students. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome Claire Coutinho, MP for East Surrey, as a guest speaker who presented students with their awards.

During the reception, guests were able to network with previous tutors, members of the College’s executive team, as well as their peers, whilst enjoying a wide selection of food and drink.

Toward the end of the ceremony, guests received an inspiring Student Vote of Thanks from Noelle Vaugh, Photography BA (Hons) Top-Up Degree Alumni.

“Pursuing any academic course is never easy; but for the classes of the pandemic, our studies over the past three years were to be even more challenging than any students before us.”

“We sought out alternative ways to achieve our goals and follow our dreams. This time, although the most challenging of times, has been the most character-building of times.”

“Join me in thanking you; our families, our friends, and above all, our lecturers and all at East Surrey College for their extraordinary guidance and leadership through such a tumultuous time. We simply could not have done this without you.”

Thank you to all who attended, and we wish all of our former students a bright and successful future.
