National Apprenticeship Week Day 3

National Apprenticeship Week Day 3

Date: 10 February 2021

We’re halfway through National Apprenticeship Week 2021! We hope you’re finding this week interesting and informative, and that you have learnt more about the different opportunities available for school leavers!

Today, we heard from Katie Pitman from the Chartered Insurance Institute of Guildford who talked about the wide range of career and progression opportunities available to school leavers through to graduates in these sectors. Key advice included: get a LinkedIn account, read the trade press, gain work experience, network and check your CV! Our Business students then heard from Subathra Govindaraj, HR Manager at Schlumberger, who spoke about their exciting Apprenticeship opportunities. She shared how "our people are our greatest assets" and explained how Schlumberger, an oil and gas services company, is proud to have such a diverse workforce. She then handed over to Charlotte and Sian, HR Apprentices at Schlumberger, currently studying at ESC towards their Level 5 CIPD qualifications! Charlotte went over their application process and highlighted some projects they've worked on, and Sian described a typical day and gave some application tips

CHARLOTTE HR APPRENTICE Our Apprenticeship Story today comes from Charlotte, who is completing her HR Apprenticeship with Schlumberger at Gatwick. She’s loved learning how the world of HR operates and is looking forward to learning more throughout her Apprenticeship. Her day-to-day tasks include processing notes and forms, creating references and ensuring employee wellbeing! During lockdown, Charlotte has risen to the challenge and continued her learning online and has found that the ESC tutors have always been available for help.

“I’m over a year into my Apprenticeship and would not look back – it is the best decision I ever made as it really gives you knowledge and understanding, and allows you to put your learning to work”

Over on Instagram Stories, we’ve got an Apprenticeship ‘This or That’ quiz for you to take part in! Are you more late nights or early mornings? How about working inside or outside? Share your response and tag us so we can see!
