Business Level 3

Business Level 3 - Callum

Former School(s): Riddlesdown Collegiate

Current Position: Sales and Marketing Apprentice, Google

During his Business Level 3 course, Callum heard from Iconic Digital as part of Raising Aspirations Week. The digital marketing agency presented on their role in the industry and Callum shared "the talk opened my eyes to more possibilities that I had not yet thought of myself."

Callum's tutor suggested that he contact Iconic Digital to see if they had any career options for after his diploma, and, 2 months after finishing his course, Callum joined them on a full-time career.

As part of the presentation, Iconic Digital ran a competition to create a Twitter campaign for a client, and Callum's 25-Tweet submission impressed the judges, with his competition success undoubtedly helping during the application process.  Having developed his Digital Marketing campaign, analytical and client account management skills, then Callum secured a new role within Google’s sales and marketing division.

His current role at Google is working alongside one of Google’s Digital Marketing Account Managers and Callum enjoys "the fact that you can see the results for the work you are doing eg you can see the growth of a client’s digital footprint by monitoring analytics and using a variety of software."

Callum credits his College course for his career success:

"The units that are currently benefitting me the most are the ones relating to marketing. There are also a variety of business topics that I studied at College which have directly benefitted me in my workplace work and with the challenges that my job requires of me. There have been some issues which I have run into with a client’s website where I have been able to draw upon my studies and classroom discussions."

Callum appreciated the timetabling system at College as "the 3 days a week course structure also enabled me to have a job within an office environment on the other two days which enhanced a variety of my skills; including my confidence and communication."

He is also grateful for the support he received from tutors, "who are there to help you through the course and assist you to the next stage of your life."
