Turning Creativity into Careers

Reigate School of Art is extremely well located to access work opportunities across London and the South East, where 45%* of the 3.3 million creative industry jobs are located.

There has never been a better time to start a career in the creative industries. The UK’s creative industries are now recognised as world leading and are growing faster than the UK economy as a whole with over 1.9 million people working directly in the creative industries:

  • £92 billion contributed to the UK economy every year*
  • Employment in the UK creative industries is growing at four times
    the rate of the UK workforce as a whole* 
  • About 1 in 8 UK businesses are in the creative sector*

Links with Employers

Reigate School of Art has a vision to become a hub for the creative industries to meet the requirements of both employers and students in matching demand with skills in the workplace.

East Surrey College works with over 400 employers to provide regular engagement and the opportunity for students to gain work experience, industry work placements and future employment.

Students really benefit from the opportunity to work on live projects with local businesses and collaborate with local artists.

Reigate School of Art students have various routes for progression including:

  • Further Education – internal progression within Reigate School of Art
  • Higher Education – many students progress to prestigious art schools and universities including:
    UAL: Central Saint Martin’s, Chelsea, Camberwell, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion
    UCA: Epsom, Farnham, Canterbury, Rochester 
    Other: Glasgow School of Art, Arts University Bournemouth, Oxford, Amsterdam, Nottingham Trent, Falmouth, Leeds, Goldsmiths, Oxford Brookes, Birmingham, Exeter, Edinburgh, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton
  • Employment in the creative industries – as an alternative to further study, students have also chosen to progress directly into employment or self-employment
  • Apprenticeships
