About the Course

You will study topics including client-side and server-side scripting, database design and implementation using SQL, current Internet technologies like Web Server configuration and control. This programme has a project-based approach that reflects ‘real life’ problems that students can expect to encounter in the world of work. This course is designed to support progression into employment or on to a Top-up Degree.

64 UCAS points from A-levels or equivalent Level 3, plus GCSE English and Maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C). Mature students with a suitable background will also be considered.

YEAR ONE modules include: Mark-up Languages & Scripting // Server Side Scripting // Web Server Implementation // Database Design and Implementation // Project Management // Computer Forensics

YEAR TWO modules include: Interactive Multimedia Development // Object Orientated Framework // Advanced Project Management // Systems and Command Line // Software App Development

Assessment is undertaken through a range of techniques including assignment work, presentations, short tests, practical tasks, projects and other modern methodologies.

At the end of the two years full-time study students with the recognised Level 5 Foundation Degree (FdSc) can contemplate many different options including: Progression to the University of Chichester to read the last year of a full Honours Degree (this option is available up to four years after completion of this course) or progression to another university awarding a related degree or an Apprenticeship or moving directly into the workplace.
