ABOUT THE COURSE
This Foundation Degree includes the study of such topics as client-side and server-side scripting, and Database Design and Implementation using SQL, all of which contribute to the current extraordinary achievements of the Internet and provide solid foundations for the next major innovation of the Web, namely Web 3.0.
We will introduce students to a selection of current Internet technologies like Web Server configuration and control which form an integral part of the course. This topic integrates well within the project-based approach of the programme that reflects ‘real life’ problems that students can expect to encounter in the world of work.
As with much of the modern coding paradigm, an Object Orientated approach will be used fundamentally in coding solutions.
YEAR ONE: Mark-up Languages & Scripting // Server Side Scripting // Web Server Implementation // Database Design and Implementation // Project Management // Computer Forensics
YEAR TWO: Interactive Multimedia Development // Object Orientated Framework // Advanced Project Management // Systems and Command Line // Software App Development
Assessment is undertaken through a range of techniques including assignment work, presentations, short tests, practical tasks, projects and other modern methodologies.
WHERE DOES IT LEAD?
At the end of the two years full-time study students with the recognised Level 5 Foundation Degree (FdSc) can contemplate many different options including: Progression to the University of Chichester to read the last year of a full Honours Degree (this option is available up to four years after completion of this course) or progression to another university awarding a related degree or an Apprenticeship or moving directly into the workplace.
