Childcare Level 3 - Lily Povey
Lily joined ESC on Childcare Level 2, after missing a Maths GCSE Pass by one mark! Determined to continue towards the Level 3 qualification, she found that "it definitely helped me feel more ready for Level 3, as I gained a lot of knowledge."
During Level 2, she started a placement at a local nursery, initially a voluntary role and was then employed for bank work.
“The activities that I plan and carry out at work can be added to my College portfolio which is very useful. The nursery staff also always give me time to finish my College work if I need it.”
Lily has wanted to work in a nursery as she's "always been good with children - it was a choice for me between that and animals!" She commented that she enjoys researching and coming up with new activities:
"I actually like it when I don't know something! The course has so many opportunities to learn new things and improve my knowledge."
When asked about the tutoring and support at College, Lily shared:
“The tutors never force you to do anything that you’re not comfortable with but they always know what’s best for our learning. Support is always there when we need it.”
Her next step is Early Childhood Studies with Psychology BA at the University of Portsmouth, as she has an unconditional offer! She is "really looking forward to the freedom! Now I have an open door into the industry and it will help me know what to specialise in."
