As an Apprentice, you will spend time both in College and in the workplace learning new skills and training alongside experienced staff, which will lead to a nationally recognised Apprenticeship. At the end of the Apprenticeship you will have acquired job specific skills and the ability to perform your job competently; you may also have achieved qualifications which are recognised by your chosen profession.

The occupation covered by this standard is Construction Quantity Surveying Technician. Typical job titles can include: Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Construction Surveyor, Quantity Surveying Technician, Assistant Cost Engineer or Assistant Cost Analyst. Construction Quantity Surveying Technicians are associated with the monitoring and control of costs and contracts on construction projects and are based on sites or in offices. The main duties and tasks of a Construction Surveying Technician are: Assisting senior managers with the budgeting of construction projects; Control of costs during a construction project; Selection and management of specialist contractors; To contribute to the mitigation of disputes using accurate records; Recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project; Valuation of progress on construction projects; To assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project.
PLEASE NOTE:
Apprentices may require equipment and resources to undertake training such as: safety/work boots, a reliable laptop or tablet for assignments and course materials, trade-specific tools as outlined in the course, writing equipment like notebooks and pens, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The formal entry requirements for this apprenticeship are that candidates must hold a Level 3 qualification (in any subject) or possess reasonable experience if they do not have a Level 3 qualification.
You will need Maths and English GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C or a Functional Skill Level 2) upon enrolment.
Apprentices who successfully complete this qualification will be able to advance their careers within the field.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you could look to progress onto the level 6 Chartered Surveyor Degree (RICS) apprenticeship standard.
END POINT ASSESSMENT:
All Apprenticeship standards have an End Point Assessment. This is carried out by an independent organisation who will assess whether you have achieved all the elements of your Apprenticeship. They will assess the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours gained throughout your apprenticeship. You will only be able to undertake the EPA once you have satisfied all the requirements of the element called ‘The Gateway’. The detail can also be found on the Institute for Apprentices website.
GATEWAY REQUIREMENTS:
- Maths and English at Level 2 achieved
- Satisfactory completion of knowledge skills and behaviours.
- Completion of L4 qualification in Construction and the Built Environment
- Progression onto the EPA supported by the employer and college.
