Sector-Based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs) combine pre-employment training, a work experience placement, and a guaranteed interview, helping you gain the skills, experience and confidence to move into work.
SWAP pathways
Our SWAPs are developed with employer partners in the construction, healthcare, and education sector. Explore our current SWAP pathways below and choose the route that’s right for you.
Willmott Dixon | Construction SWAP
Delivered in partnership with Willmott Dixon, this three week SWAP provides you with the skills and qualifications to progress into an apprenticeship, job or higher-level training in the construction sector.
What you’ll gain:
- A Level 1 Health & Safety qualification
- A CSCS Green Card
- Work experience with Willmott Dixon
- A guaranteed interview on completion
- Additional support from our Employability Coaches

Strada Care | Healthcare SWAP
Delivered in partnership with Strada Care, this SWAP provides you with the skills and qualifications to progress into an apprenticeship, job or higher-level training in the care sector.
What you’ll gain:
- Industry-relevant training in the healthcare sector
- Work experience through a supported placement
- Increased confidence and knowledge about the sector
- A guaranteed interview upon completion
- Additional support from our Employability Coaches

Learning Support Assistant | Education SWAP
Our Education SWAP gives you the skills, knowledge and qualifications to begin a career as a Learning Support Assistant in a school or further education setting.
What you’ll gain:
- Industry-relevant training to prepare you for the education sector
- Practical experience through a supported work placement
- Increased confidence and knowledge to help you move into employment
- A guaranteed job interview upon completion
- Additional support from our Employability Coaches


For further education, completing this course guarantees an interview with Orbital South Colleges. For primary or secondary school roles, Starfyn Recruitment offer a guaranteed interview on completion.
Additional support
Our Employability Coaches also support you with CV writing, job searching, interview preparation, and developing maths, English, ESOL, digital and workplace skills.
Eligibility
All SWAPs are free if you are aged 19+, unemployed and receiving a means-tested benefit, or employed and earning under ÂŁ25,750 per year.
