The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering for England (HTQ) has been developed in collaboration with employers, professional bodies, and higher education providers to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the engineering sector.
This Higher National Certificate offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical understanding with practical applications, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of today's technologically advanced industries.
This dynamic and industry-focused qualification is designed to lay the foundations to equip you with the introductory knowledge, skills and behaviours that all engineers require - irrespective of current or future specialism.

- 4014 Production Engineering and Manufacture Unit Credit: 15
- 4017 Quality and Process Control Unit Credit: 15
- 4020 Digital Principles Unit Credit:Â 15
64 tariff points in A-Level subjects, including maths or a Level 3 BTEC or T-Level in an engineering discipline. Minimum grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English.
This Level 4 course provides a broad introduction to the engineering sector. The course develops and strengthens core skills, allowing career progression in current roles and/or preparing students for more specialist subjects at Level 5, where students can then progress to a Batchelors degree in Engineering.
This course will be internally assessed through a programme of assignments, projects, case studies and practical activities.
The tuition fee stated is per year and may increase in following years. Please be aware that there may be additional costs for equipment and educational visits. This information will be provided at interview.
Student loans and financial support
Full-time and Part-time students from the UK/EU who are studying for a Higher Education course can apply to the Student Loans Company (www.slc.co.uk) for a Tuition Fee Loan for the full amount (this will be paid directly to the College). Additionally, Full-time UK-only students can apply for a Maintenance Loan (to cover living costs). The Government have also introduced the Maintenance Loans to Part-time students. Evidence of an approved loan must be provided at enrolment in the form of the Payment Advice letter provided by the Student Loans Company.
