An engaging mixed-level ESOL Summer School designed to develop English language skills through interactive ICT activities, practical on-site learning and real-life communication tasks across a range of contexts.
This mixed-level ESOL Summer School extends learning beyond the traditional classroom through a dynamic blend of ICT-based tasks, collaborative activities, and guided on-site and outdoor learning experiences. Delivered alongside core weekly teaching sessions, the programme makes use of digital platforms such as Wordwall and Wayground to support interactive vocabulary development, reading, and employability-focused tasks. Learners will take part in structured quizzes, communication challenges, and cross-college interactions, encouraging spontaneous use of English in authentic settings. Additional activities in environments such as the college garden, kitchen, and shared spaces provide opportunities for practical language use, including instruction-giving, problem-solving, and descriptive communication. The course also incorporates project-based learning, where learners work in groups to produce presentations or digital outputs linked to job search skills, CV writing, and personal profiling. Designed to be flexible and adaptable across Entry 3 to Level 2, the programme focuses on observable, outcome-driven progress, while promoting confidence, digital literacy, learner independence, and meaningful engagement within the wider college community.
