All 16-18 year-olds are required to complete a minimum of 1 week’s work placement (35 hours)* at a time agreed by your department head. *Exact number of hours required will depend on the level course you are enrolled on.
UNITS/TOPICS COVERED:
This course is a one-year course that will cover units such as: Being Organised, Developing a Personal Progression Plan, Working with Others, Researching a Topic, How Exercise Affects the Body, Training for Fitness, Playing Sport, Contributing to Running a Sports Event, Getting People Active and Keeping Active and Healthy.
There will be an opportunity to complete a Functional Skills Level 1 Qualification in Numeracy and Literacy.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Students will need pens and paper and relevant stationery to complete basic classroom tasks. Students will also have the opportunity to be supplied with compulsory uniform from an external agency, consisting of one polo shirt, which must be purchased by each student individually.
5 GCSE grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English and Maths or: BTEC NQF Level 2 Extended Certificate/BTEC QCF Level 2 Diploma Merit/Distinction and GCSE grade 9-4 (A*-C) in English and Maths.
Achieving and passing the course, as well as a good reference from the tutor, will allow students to move onto a Sport Level 2 Extended Certificate or another Level 2 course. It can also lead to a range of jobs working in industries including but not limited to sport, outdoor and adventurous, social and youth work and events.
There is a continued assessment throughout the programme, allowing students to improve and develop continually. Assessment comes in a range of forms including leaflets, handbooks, essays and reports, practical assessment and observation, class tests, presentations, discussion seminars and practical projects.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
