Annie has always loved animals and after seeing our new course, decided to swap courses to Animal Management. From handling the animals to working as part of a team, she enjoys the community within the course and hopes to one day work in an animal rescue.
Why did you decide to study this course?
I have always loved animals and when I found out about the new Animal Management course on social media, I knew it was something I wanted to try. Knowing that I would be working in the classroom with the animals is what drew me in as the facilities are so good!
What do you enjoy most about your course?
My favourite thing about my course is working as a group to handle the animals and knowing that we’re all helping the animals and supporting them. The practical tasks I enjoy most are handling and feeding the animals. As well as this, there’s a positive atmosphere and community in the course, everyone gets on well with each other.
What do you like most about being a student at East Surrey College?
I enjoy coming in a few days a week as it means I can focus more on my studies by doing practical hands-on learning in person. It’s also a great place to meet like-minded people who are interested in the same things as you.
Have you taken part in any Work Experience as part of your course?
As part of our course, we have to complete 60 hours of work experience, and I’m excited to start at a cattery in Kenley soon.
How have you found the teaching and support given at ESC?
The teaching and support is very good, the tutors are always helpful and provide any extra support you need. You can always talk to them no matter what.
What are your plans for when you leave college?
At College I hope to continue studying Animal Management, and then after College my goal is to hopefully work with animals in a rescue as I want to continue helping more animals.
Would you recommend ESC to future students?
I would recommend the Animal Management department at ESC to future students because you will be receiving great hands-on learning in your classroom each week, and there is much less pressure from exams than if you studied A Levels.
