Ty dreams to be a zookeeper and our new Animal Management course seemed like the perfect opportunity to begin working towards his goal. He loves how he can meet like-minded people on the course and gets to study something he enjoys!
Why did you decide to study this course?
In the future I would like to be a zookeeper, so Animal Management seemed like a great place to start. I also have almost 10 cats at home and love caring for them, so I wanted to do a course that lets me do something similar.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
I really like being able to socialize and make friends with people on my course as they have a similar interest in animal care. I also love the freedom of the course and how it is more practical. The Animal Management classroom is also fun as there is always something to be done.
What do you like most about being a student at East Surrey College?
At ESC I feel more grown up and enjoy the freedom of being at college. As well, on my course, we have to complete 60 hours of work experience, which is also a great opportunity offered by the college. I also think the canteen is great!
How have you found the teaching and support given at ESC?
The teaching has been really good. They explain things well and if I need help, I know they are always there to support me.
What are your plans for when you leave college?
I would like to get work experience at a zoo so I can begin to build my way up to being a zookeeper.
Would you recommend ESC to future students?
Yes, I would recommend ESC. It has a positive environment, and I feel safe here. There is so much going on, and it is a great place for people looking to do courses that are less focused on reading and writing.
