Tannaka started at ESC in our ESOL provision as he began to learn English after moving from Zimbabwe. After exceeding all expectations in his studies, he quickly progressed onto Plumbing Level 1. Tannaka quickly impressed his Tutors with his determination and attitude, and team pitched together to gift him a personalised toolkit with equipment from suppliers Heating Plumbing Supplies and Monument.
What led you to choosing this course? If you chose to do a T Level course, why?
I came to ESC to study ESOL, so I could learn and improve my English skills. Once I was confident, I progressed onto Plumbing Level 1 as the tutor convinced me I would be a good fit. I chose plumbing because I want to one day help others learn.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoy how practical the lessons are, so that it means we can learn new skills in the workshop while we are studying. The facilities at ESC are really good and help you make the most of your course.
Overall, how did you find the teaching/support?
Throughout the course my Tutor has encouraged me a lot to be the best I can. He is really helpful as well whenever you need support.
Did you complete any work experience during this course? How did you find it and what takeaways did you have from it?
I helped out during the School Links sessions as I enjoy helping others learn new skills. My Tutors say I have done brilliantly at supporting the students and integrated well into the sessions. Helping out taught me a lot about myself and Plumbing.
What are your future plans once you’ve finished your course?
I am planning on progressing through the levels, to study Plumbing Level 3 one day. After I finish at College I want to get a job in the Plumbing industry.
Would you recommend ESC to a future student? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend East Surrey College to anyone who is interested in learning English, as the teachers have been lovely in helping me throughout this journey.
