Spencer hands-on, practical work and after working with a labourer, decided Plumbing would be a great fit. He loves the atmosphere of the College and has a great bond with those on his course, as they often work closely during practical lessons. His Tutor, Paul, provides a lot of support and is always ready to help whenever Spencer needs it.
What led you to choosing this course? If you chose to do a T Level course, why?
Last year, I had the opportunity to do some labouring for a builder, and during that time, I was very curious about the work of a plumber. I loved the designs of the pipes and understanding how they worked was very interesting to me. I’ve always enjoyed practical, hands-on tasks, and seeing how everything came together in a plumbing system was something I enjoyed learning about.
Why did you decide to study at ESC? Â
 The location is perfect for me. I was accepted into another college, but I chose this college because it is easily accessible.Â
 What did you enjoy most about your course? Â
I enjoy the atmosphere of the class and get along well with my classmates. We have a great time learning together. One of my favourite parts of the lessons is soldering pipes, as I find it interesting. I learned a lot from this course and enjoying it is a bonus.
Overall, how did you find the teaching/support?
It’s amazing! Paul is incredibly supportive. I had surgery just before Christmas and he consistently checks in on me to see if everything is manageable. It’s great to have such a caring and supportive tutor.
What are your future plans once you’ve finished your course?
Apprenticeship is the path I want to go down. It offers the chance to continue learning while earning at the same time. It’s a great way to gain practical experience and get a better understanding of how things work in the real world, which will help me decide if it’s the right career for me.
Would you recommend ESC to a future student? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend it. The environment is welcoming, the people are great, and it’s a comfortable, supportive place to learn.
