This Foundation Level 2 T Level is a one-year preparation course supporting progression to the Level 3 T Level in Digital Software Development, Digital Support and Security or employment at a junior level. This is a practical, work-related course, which develops the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to provide a sound, basic IT and business education.
This is a practical, work-related course, which develops the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to provide a sound, basic IT and business education. You will be required to use real businesses for your coursework. A number of trips are organised during the year to relate your learning to the world outside of college. In past years, these have included Thorpe Park, Cadbury World, Microsoft and Bletchley Park. You will often work in small groups, and you may well be required to present your findings to the rest of the group. Attendance of at least 90% is necessary in order to complete the course.
COMPONENTS/TOPICS COVERED:
The course comprises five components, each covering a wide range of computing and work-based work, designed to facilitate more specialist study.
- 1. Diagnostic and guidance periodTo assess capability and support needs to tailor your individual Foundation Year and help them
decide which T Level route they wish to prepare for. - 2. English and MathsStudents who did not achieve English and/or maths GCSE grade 4 at Key Stage 4 are required to continue studying as per the condition of funding.
- 3. Work preparation and employability skillsTo develop the skills, behaviours, attitude, and confidence that will be needed for students to complete the T Level Industry Placement.
- 4. Introductory technical skills

- Explore Networking with CISCO Packet Tracer
- Introduction to Computer Networking and Cyber Security
5. Pastoral support and personal development
Relevant and meaningful support to address barriers to education, support emotional and/or mental health difficulties, and support the development of study skills, and reflective and resilience skills.

5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths; or a Level 1 qualification plus English and Maths at the appropriate level.
Obtaining the Level 2 Foundation T-Level will allow you to move on to Level 3 T-Level in Digital Production, Design and Development, Digital Support Service or employment at a junior level.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
