This Information & Creative Technology Level 1 course will give you experience in a wide range ofdigital andIT skills, from web design and Office applications to basic programming and hardware installation. With a range of practical assignments, you will develop important skills needed by employers.
UNITS/TOPICS COVERED:
The Level 1/2 Award consists of 2 core units and 1 optional unit that provide a total of 120 credits.
You will be required to undertake GCSE retakes in English and Maths if you have not yet achieved 9-4 (A*-C) in these areas. Students will also participate in work experience or a work-based project during non-college days.
Core Units:
- Unit 1 –The Online World (External Assessment)
- Unit 3 –A Digital Portfolio

- Unit 6 –Creating Digital Graphics
- Unit 8 –Mobile Apps Development
- Unit 11 –Computer Networks
- Unit 12 –Software Development
- Unit 14 –Maintaining and Installing Hardware

4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and Maths (considerations made on a case-by-case basis).
Obtaining a merit or above in this course will allow you to move on to Digital Technology Level 2 Foundation T-Level or employment at a junior level.
There is a continued assessment throughout the programme, allowing students to improve and develop continually. Assessment comes in a range of forms including reports, practical assessment and observation, online assessments and presentations.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
