After finishing GCSEs, Finlay started an Aeronautics course based at Brighton City (Formerly Shoreham) Airport. During this time, he applied for a few Apprenticeships, but it wasn’t until his second time around applying a year later that he landed the role at Gatwick Airport.  “I actually applied for quite a few Apprenticeships the first time around, but the second time I only applied for the Gatwick one.” The wide variety of topics offered with the programme appealed to Finlay and he was excited to learn in a hands-on way. Abi was introduced to the Apprenticeship route in Year 8, by her mum who worked for an airline and was already familiar with the pathway.  This opened up the opportunity for Abi to learn in a more practical way as  “our school offered some practical learning but not very much.”  With an interest in taking things apart and rebuilding, Abi knew that Engineering would be the best industry for her.  She was excited to be successful in the application process for the Gatwick Airport Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme and is particularly looking forward to the baggage, shuttle and airfield elements. After taking A levels at school, Tim explored the University option.
