As part of a joint college collaboration project called #ChangeMakers21, London South East Colleges, East Sussex College Group, East Surrey College and John Ruskin College are proud to present a series of virtual employer events. 

The event will be hosted by Springpod, a careers information platform, by the College Collaboration Fund. 

We are bringing together a range of employers who are at the forefront of the rapidly expanding digital and sustainable economies within the South East. These employers will talk about the new and emerging careers which they expect to be in demand over the next 10 years, as well as the knowledge, skills and behaviours young people will need to successfully progress into them.

Throughout the week each day will be aimed at the following audiences:

  • Monday 28 February - SEND Learners and Parents
  • Tuesday 1 March - FE Learners
  • Wednesday 2 March - School Learners
  • Thursday 3 March - Parents of FE and School Learners
  • Friday 4 March - College Staff

Monday 28 February: Briefing for SEND Learners and Parents
16:00 – 19:00

The digital and sustainable economies are developing at such a pace which is revolutionising the way in which businesses operate. 

Within the SEND provisions at our colleges we are very aware of this and actively promote in particular the sustainable economies within our delivery to ensure our learners are aware of how they can contribute and be equipped to be employed within these industries. 

You will hear from a wide range of top employers and gain a better understanding of how employers provide a supported environment for employees with learning difficulties or disabilities, to ensure success in the workplace.

We will provide case studies and the support available in developing the skills and confidence for transitioning into work.

 


Tuesday 1 March: Briefing for FE Learners
10:00 – 13:00

This event is a great opportunity to gain a real insight into the new and emerging career pathways of the future.

Hear from a wide range of top employers, at the forefront of the developments happening within digital and sustainable economies, and learn more about the skills and behaviours they are looking for in their future workforce.

Hear about the exciting new opportunities emerging in the digital and sustainable space and understand how you can prepare yourself to successfully secure a job of the future.

 


Wednesday 2 March: Briefing for School Learners
10:00 – 13:00

No matter what your aspirations, the need for digital and sustainability skills will apply to you.

Hear from a wide range of top employers who are at the forefront of the developments happening within these economies, and learn more about the skills they are looking for in their future workforce.

Be well-informed about the exciting new training and career opportunities emerging in the digital and sustainable space and understand how you can prepare yourself to successfully secure a job of the future.

 


Thursday 3 March: Briefing for Parents of FE Learners and School Students
16:00 – 19:00

We are bringing together employers who are at the forefront of the rapidly expanding digital and sustainable economies within the South East.

Employers will introduce you to the ground-breaking new careers which they expect to be in demand over the next 10 years; as well as the knowledge, skills and behaviours young people will need to progress..

These talks will give you a fantastic insight into the amazing opportunities young people will have in the South East and how you as parents/guardians can support them to consider their options.


Friday 4 March: Briefing for College staff
13:00 – 16:00

This is a chance for college staff and employers to review the training that is required to meet the skills needs. This is a CPD opportunity to network and reflect on how we can work more collaboratively, bringing industry knowledge up-to-date.

There will be presentations from the Careers & Enterprise Company (on resources, LMI, support for schools and FE)​ and from employers in the digital and sustainable industry sectors.
