East Surrey College's Teacher Training Academy offers a number of courses which can lead to or develop a career in teaching, training or assessing others.
Qualifications range from level 3 to level 5 – you can join at any level providing you meet the entry requirements. You might be considering a new career or wishing to progress in or supplement an existing career. You might have a passion for a particular hobby, or skills gained in trade or industry. If you have the interest, we can make you a teacher!
Trainee Apprenticeship Route
Our courses can also be taken as part of an apprenticeship programme – if you are on a teaching apprentieship, your employer will encourage you to gain a level 4 or 5 qualification.
Bespoke Courses for Organisations
We also offer bespoke tailored courses to organisations including local authorities, local businesses and the NHS, who may need to train their staff in fire safety, inductions, risk assessments or safeguarding for example.
Award in Education and Training (AET) Level 3
|This is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback.|
Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) Level 3
This is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).
Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA) Level 4
|This is for practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre/organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.|
|Certificate in Education and Training (CET) Level 4|
|This is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is a qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.|
Diploma in Education and Training (DET) Level 5
|This is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in education and training and demonstrate them in their practice.|
AET & CAVA Package Level 3
|This package combines the Award in Education and Training (AET) and Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) units above.|
