National Apprenticeship Week Comes to an end

Date: 15 March 2018
It’s been another great year to see our Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects & Media Make-Up students taking part at the Warpaintopia and the Warpaint Make-Up Championships 2018, at ExCeL London’s Professional Beauty show.
With professional Make-Up artists and students showcasing their talents it was great to see our students impressing judges with stunning designs demonstrating real skill and creativity in their interpretation of theme, application of products, use of colour and overall impact.
Competition themes revolved around 1988, and we had a group of Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects & Media Make-Up students compete across a range of categories from Bodypainting to Film & TV.
Maryana Dimitrova-Lazarovaw wowed the judges with her ‘Willow’ inspired character from a 1988 Oscar-nominated movie and was placed 2nd in her category for her incredible work.
East Surrey College tutor Karen Fundell commented:
“The students performed brilliantly, considering the tough competition from other colleges. Warpaint is such a great opportunity to network and show case the students skills on a national level. Maryana produced an amazing character interpretation from the film "Willow" with prosthetics, ageing and laying on of facial hair, her character was a well-deserved 2nd place.”
This competitive event was excellent practice for students to compete against industry peers and gain recognition for their talents. – Great job to all the students involved!
