This course offers those interested in working within care or social care environments the chance to develop their practical skills including work experience. You will complete placements in relevant settings, where you are assessed to complete a vocational unit.
Although this is a practical course, there are a substantial number of coursework tasks to be completed, as well as exams. It is essential that you are organised and able to meet deadlines.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
- Textbooks
- Stationery –ring binder, dividers, pens, notebook, plastic wallets etc.
- Access to IT an advantage
- Students are required to purchase uniform which consists of polo shirts and a fleece (optional). You will also be expected to wear appropriate trousers/skirt and shoes.
5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths; or a Level 1 qualification plus English and Maths at the appropriate level.
A clean DBS check is required.
Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care or CACHE Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People’s Workforce. In order to progress, you will need to achieve a high level of attendance and punctuality and a positive reference from your tutor and to pass all mandatory and optional units.
You may also gain employment with the health and social care sector in roles such as a home care worker, support worker, care assistant or a learning support assistant.
There is a continued assessment throughout the programme, allowing students to improve and develop continually. Assessment comes in a range of forms including reports, practical assessment and observation, online assessments and presentations.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
