This is an intermediate vocational qualification that focuses on the development of a broad range of women’s hairdressing skills, supported by relevant underpinning theoretical knowledge. The purpose of this qualification is to develop a high level of occupational ability and provide a sound platform from which to progress to a Level 2 NVQ or Diploma in hairdressing.

UNITS/TOPICS COVERED:
- Health and Safety practice in the salon
- Working in the hair industry
- Cut women's hair
- The art of dressing hair
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Client consultation for hair services
- Colour and lighten hair
Please note that this is an intensive course and will require great commitment to complete. There will be a lot of research and assignments to be completed independently and a high level of attendance will be required.
An appropriate level of literacy is required and an interview is necessary. Willingness to follow uniform guidelines and comply with College attendance and punctuality expectations are also essential.
Students who successfully complete this qualification will have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 qualification or an Apprenticeship. This qualification may also lead directly into supervised employment.
This qualification is achieved with a combination of written and practical assessments.
Course work and you will need to be able to practice at home and provide clients for assessment at the ESC Escape Salon.
The fees displayed are the MAXIMUM payable by adults aged 19+ unless you qualify for a concessionary fee. Please be aware that there may be additional costs for materials.
Concessions
Tuition fees may be waived or reduced if you are on a low income or receive certain benefits.
If you don’t qualify for a concession, you will need to pay for your course in full or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost (Level 3-6 courses only).
