High quality teaching 

We provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities for all our students. Our tutors come from relevant industries, with many continuing their practice whilst they teach. This means our students understand current practice and technologies, and benefit from first hand industry experience. Tutors encourage and support students as they explore and develop, keeping students motivated and inspired through a range of teaching methods.  

Industry and Employer Links 

Our partnerships with over 300 local and national employers create opportunities for students. We have a proven track record with employers with 91.2% agreeing we provide a ‘good or better’ training experience​.  Employers say we are good at developing the “right skills for their industry” for students and apprentices​.  Our Business Development and Careers team are well established in supporting work placements, industry contacts and wider employer engagement and these create real progression opportunities for all students. 

Support and Intervention 

We take a positive approach to supporting our students to develop their behaviours, achieve and progress. Using our understanding of the challenges that young people face, we use professional curiosity to really understand and support the interventions that work.  Our students know that their teachers care about them and will not give up on pushing them to achieve their very best.  Where there are persistent issues, we quickly intervene.  We look for the best in our students, and make sure our students know that we’ve noticed their fantastic progress.

Our state-of-the-art campus provides fantastic teaching and enrichment facilities and students have access to the latest technology.  

Excellent progression to work and higher study 

2024 destination data shows that 93.6% of students had a positive destination after completing their qualification at East Surrey College; we support students equally to progress to apprenticeships (including degree apprenticeships), higher education and into employment. 

16-18 full-time study programmes 

In 2023, our students went on to study a wide variety of courses at Universities and Higher Education institutions across the country. We are currently collating a list of institutions and courses our students were destined for in July 2024, but you can find our previous 2022 higher destinations below.

When you join the College, you are signing up for more than just a qualification; your study programme is made up of the following key elements: 

• Your chosen subject qualification. 
• English and Maths where this has not been achieved at GCSE grade 9-4 (A*-C). 
• A careers programme that includes employer talks, employer set projects, social action and enterprise projects to develop your employability skills and understanding of your chosen industry. 
• Group and one-to-one tutorials  
• Trips and visits relevant to your chosen course 
• A variety of opportunities to get involved in wider college life including student union, enrichment opportunities and sports and social clubs. It’s important to us that our students find friendships and fun at college too!
