LEAP Graduation Ceremony
Date: 23 March 2021
On Friday, our LEAP students celebrated their success with a graduation ceremony commemorating their course completion! LEAP is a course designed to support students transition into employment and involves setting students a range of coursework and practical activities, focusing on developing confidence and employability skills to use in the wider world.
The graduation began with a welcome from one of their tutors, Alam Begum, who started off with a massive congratulations to the students and celebrated their progress. This was followed by all students giving a presentation on what they have achieved throughout their course, before giving a special thank you to all the tutors that had helped them along the way.
Alam was very proud of her students, saying:
“I was pleased to see my students standing in front of people and presenting what is being taught to them. It made me feel so proud as the whole purpose of this course is to give them confidence and boost their self-esteem. I always say to my students ‘the Universe is the limit not sky’”.
Certificates were handed out to each student individually and members of staff from the Business and Sport department also presented some advice to the students on how to achieve further success now that their course has come to an end.
Kirsty Penfold, Director of Learning (Business & Professional Studies) said:
“The LEAP provision has offered students an opportunity to develop a wide variety of personal development skills and qualities. This was a new offer for East Surrey College and has been a triumph of success, receiving outstanding feedback from the students and parents/carers. This qualification has offered a truly individualised curriculum to support students in developing their confidence and resilience as well as employability knowledge and behaviours ready for the world of work”.
We would like to send a massive congratulations to all of our LEAP students and we wish them success for the future!
