Entrepreneur Academy Final 2018

Entrepreneur Academy Final 2018

Date: 23 November 2018

The College held another exciting competition final for the Entrepreneur Academy on Thursday 22 November.

The Entrepreneur Academy is run by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in partnership with East Surrey College. The course supports local entrepreneurs, providing them with an opportunity to gain the essential skills needed to set up a business; which includes business planning, finance, marketing, legal aspects and online business promotion.

This year's ten Academy members presented their business plans to a panel of 'Dragons', made up of Rosemary French OBE (Executive Director, Gatwick Diamond Initiative), Matt Turner (Managing Director, Creative Pod Limited/Director Young Start up Talent) and Brian Woods (Chairman, Federation of Small Businesses).

Ruth Winchester (https://www.doodlepippin.co.uk) impressed the judges with her pitch, showcasing her homemade polymer crafts, and was the proud winner of the £5,000 investment grant, which she plans to put towards increasing the production of her tiles and creating new designs.

Ruth is pictured above in the centre, with (Left-Right) Cllr Eddy Humphreys, governor Simon Bland (Head of Economic Prosperity, Reigate and Banstead) and the three Dragons.
