ESC Engineering Employer Event

ESC Engineering Employer Event

Date: 15 November 2023

On Wednesday 15 November, we hosted our Engineering Employer breakfast event in the Auditorium. The event brought course leaders and employers together to talk about the latest news in education. It also further strengthened our industry relationships by putting faces to names within the College and increasing employer knowledge and understanding surrounding the engineering courses, that require industry placement, at East Surrey College.

The morning was filled with networking opportunities, accompanied by refreshments and a series of presentations, delivered by our Heads of Departments. Those attending explored the new compliances in apprenticeships, and how the T Levels are changing the educational landscape for employers and colleges.

Myles, University of Surrey - “Learning about T Levels was highly informative, shedding light on the added advantages they bring to both students and employers. I am keen to explore how we can work with the College and create new opportunities for T Level students.”

In addition to our presentations, Gareth Sear, Business Engagement Lead at Gatwick Airport, was also invited to speak about the Northern Runway Expansion. He gave a valuable insight into the ongoing project and the new opportunities this presents for employers and education providers.

In the second half, our Engineering T Level students and tutors joined the event. This was beneficial for them to connect with local employers, creating opportunities for future collaborations. Two of our students stood up and spoke to the employers about their personal T Level journey, which was well received by the employers.

The event was a great collaboration reinforcing our strong connection with the industry. Those attending found it informative and with useful take away points to implement in the future.
