ESC takes on the Curtis Packaging Centre of Excellence Competition

ESC takes on the Curtis Packaging Centre of Excellence Competition

Date: 04 April 2024

At East Surrey College, our Level 3 Creative Practice Year 1 students have been working with local company Curtis Packaging as part of their Live WEX Project.

Throughout this project they had the opportunity to visit the factory grounds and experience how the creative industries work. As well as take part in a fantastic competition, allowing them to explore the specialist practices of Graphic and Product Design, and experience in designing and prototyping sustainable packaging based on the set brief given to them.

For the Curtis Packaging Centre of Excellence Competition, the students were tasked to design packaging for either; a “Hero Product” or “Duo Christmas Gift Set”.

These designs were then judged by the team at Curtis Packaging on impact of graphics, ease of assembly, transportability, and environmental considerations.

Congratulations to Ruby winning 1st prize, while Emily and Kelly took 2nd and 3rd place.

Well done to all participants, including the talented runners up being Luca, Joss, and Katie-May.  This is a great achievement, and we celebrate their cr4eativitiy and innovation in packaging design.
