Health News Update
Date: 25 November 2016
The College was informed that two students had been diagnosed with suspected viral meningitis. Viral meningitis is the milder but more common form of meningitis.
The College is open and students should be attending all classes as normal. The information in the press of more cases is incorrect; we have not been informed of any further suspected cases.
The College sought advice from Public Health England:
“As of 25 November: Public Health England South East has not been notified of any cases of meningitis linked to East Surrey College. There is no public health action required for students or staff who attend East Surrey College”.
For parents or students who would like additional information on the differences between the types of meningitis we would suggest that you access the NHS Choices website.
