Lowery Employability & Environmental Event

The Careers Team were pleased to welcome Lowery Ltd to East Surrey College for a two day Employability & Environmental workshop event in October.

Across the two days, Engineering students took part in interactive workshops and had the opportunity to find out about careers at Lowery and the work they do across the Rail and Power sectors. Major projects they have worked on include the National Grid, Euston Station and London Bridge Station.

The Lowery team discussed the wide variety of projects and different roles in construction and engineering and how they all ‘work together to build things’. Students learned that engineering has a direct impact on the environment as well as hearing about of safety and design across the built environment.

Managing Director Mark Gubbins, talked about his career journey and how he got into the industry, the different aspects of his current role and the importance of Health & Safety.

One student commented: “It has definitely encouraged me to get an apprenticeship!”.
