Lucas Oil Academy Partners with East Surrey College to Fuel Automotive Education

On 1 November 2023, our Motor Vehicle students at East Surrey College had a valuable educational opportunity when they were joined by Lucas Oil, a manufacturer and distributor of automotive oil additives, in partnership with Aftermarket Business Solutions. The training focused on the Aftermarket industry and provided insights into Lucas Oil's products and current market position.

The presentation was conducted in the college auditorium and was led by Mike Smallbone, an experienced Automotive Aftermarket professional with over 40 years of expertise, and Nathan Owen, an Academy Technician from Lucas Oil. Together, they delivered two informative training sessions to our level 1, 2, and 3 Motor Vehicle students. Students gained insights into the challenges currently facing the industry and the future of the Aftermarket, which our students will play a significant role in.

Nathan added:

"My journey with Lucas Oil has been an incredible opportunity, one that allowed me to transform my life from a challenging upbringing in North Wales to a fulfilling career. This path has led me to drift powerful cars around racetracks and undertake numerous work visits to America. My driving passion today is the opportunity to engage with and inspire students, like today, where I hope that my challenging story can inspire students who may relate, to believe in their potential and seize the opportunities that come their way."

"This is an excellent opportunity for students to engage with companies within the industry and gain knowledge and insight into how they can play their part."

One student said:

“Discovering the uses of Lucas Oil products and learning about the future of the aftermarket industry was super interesting.”

Today was an excellent example of the numerous opportunities students have here at East Surrey College to engage with future employers and receive up to date, industry led training.
