Co-teaching with Care Professionals

Co-teaching with Care Professionals

Date: 27 February 2019

Over the past few months, students in our Caring Services department have been benefitting from co-taught sessions from professionals within the healthcare sector.

The Teach Too project brings together lecturers from East Surrey College and employers within its Care Academy, of which both Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and Health Education England are key members.

Wednesday 27 February was a great example of this initiative, as 3 sessions were run throughout the day. Deborah Piper, a healthcare professional, ran workshops with Health & Social Care Level 3 and Access to Social Work, the latter of which focused on legislation around adult care.

In the afternoon, Elaine Edwards, Lead Nurse for Palliative and End of Life Care at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, shared her workplace experiences with Health & Social Care Level 3 and discussed their career aspirations.

This is a great opportunity for students to discover the careers that are available in the care sector, and put their questions to professionals.
