Introducing our new Gatwick Airport Apprentices
Date: 06 October 2021
World Teachers' Day took place on Tuesday 5 October so what better way to acknowledge the day than with our Teacher Training Graduation!
Our learners came together with staff in the Auditorium to collect their certificates for courses completed in 2020/21. Attending the ceremony were recent graduates of our Award in Education and Training Level 3, Certificate in Education and Training Level 4 and Diploma in Education and Training Level 5 courses.
The event opened with a welcome from Jayne Dickinson, Chief Executive and Principal (Orbital South College Group), followed by an introduction from Jose Aguiar, Teacher Training Lecturer and Mentor. He shared his pride for the graduating students, explaining how they had overcome great challenges whilst learning and teaching remotely through the pandemic.
Three recent graduates then took to the stage to share their own experiences. Aditi, from AET Level 3, explained how teaching had always been her passion, coming from a family of teachers, and that the AET course introduced a more "student-centric" approach. Recent CET graduate Alam shared her journey from starting as a University Level student at ESC to becoming a staff member and representative on the College Council. Finally, Andrew, who was collecting a certificate for his DET course, looked back on his progression from the Level 3 course and commented on the pastoral role of a teacher.
Our graduates then collected their certificates in turn, before enjoying a chance to catch up with their coursemates.
ESC offers Teacher Training courses across Levels 3, 4 and 5 starting up throughout the academic year. Explore our courses here.
