This exciting course provides a broad grounding in sound and moving image and a general introduction to the media industry. It serves as an introductory pathway to Level 3 courses in Film, Photography and TV, Sound and Music Production or Games Design, Animation & 3D Modelling providing a solid foundation for a career in the creative industries.
UNITS/TOPICS COVERED:
There are eight units delivered over the course of the year along with the opportunity to retake GCSE English and Maths if necessary. Units include:
Introduction to Creative Media Methods and Skills
- Introduction to Production Techniques
- Understanding an Audience in Creative Media Production
- Contextual Research for Creative Media
- Exploring Audio Production and Technology
- Exploring Video Production and Technology
- Exploring Interactive Media Production and Technology
- Personal Project and Presentation in Creative Media Production
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Headphones are essential.
5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths; or a Level 1 qualification plus English and Maths at the appropriate level.
Students who successfully complete the course will be able to progress either to further study at Level 3, or employment.
There is a continued assessment throughout the programme, allowing students to improve and develop continually. Assessment comes in a range of forms including reports, practical assessment and observation, online assessments and presentations.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
