This is a vocational alternative to the ‘A’ Level route offering a solid grounding for specialisation. This course is designed to teach the skills common to all Art & Design students. The first stage of this course is best described as ‘basic training’. A broad introduction is very important before students specialise in one of four subject pathways in the second stage. It is designed to help identify the right direction/pathway for the individual student. This qualification provides UCAS points and is recognised by all Higher Level Art, Design and Media courses and employers. Our students have a very high success rate at entering degree and Higher Education courses. We also provide all the support and guidance needed for the portfolio preparation for UCAS applications or job interviews. Mature students with or without formal qualifications are encouraged to apply.
This course has a broad starting point and is designed for students who wish to find a specialist in an Art & Design subject. This course has pathways in the following areas:

This qualification encourages all students to be sustainable in the work they produce and the impact their activity has on our environment.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
A broad range of general art materials, you will need to buy some materials, sketchbook, drawing and painting materials as well as a work box, a list will be issued.
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths; or a Level 2 qualification plus GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths.
The course is equivalent to three A Levels and provides the progression route for a career in the creative industries. This course mainly provides a progression to a higher level course at degree level subjects such as: Graphic Design, Fashion and Textiles, Illustration, Animation, Interactive Design, Three Dimensional Design, Photography, Fine Art etc
There is continued assessment throughout the programme across a range of projects, allowing students to improve and develop continually. Assessment comes in a range of forms including creative projects, portfolio of evidence and presentations.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
