Design & Development for Engineering & Manufacturing T Level (Full Time)

This course is designed to provide you with the core contexts, concepts and theories required for the Engineering industry and is ideal for those interested in a career in the electrical/electronic engineering industries. This qualification requires a mandatory 315 hours (minimum) industry placement which will develop your technical skills and allow you to apply your knowledge in a workplace environment; in which you must undertake and complete in order to be successfully certified.

Electro-Mechanical Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma (Full Time)

This course is for students with an interest in engineering and who want to challenge themselves at a technical level. The General Engineering qualification suits someone who wants to have an appreciation of engineering across both electrical and mechanical subjects.

Engineering Level 2 Diploma (Full Time)

This Level 2 qualification provides an introduction to the manufacturing engineering world and students will learn how to use lathes and mills as well as producing Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings.

Embedded Electronic Systems Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Please note you must be employed before applying for an apprenticeship. East Surrey College can support your apprentice in achieving this apprenticeship standard. Apprentices will study a Level 5 BTEC Higher National Diploma at the college and will finish their degree with a Top up year at University. Several local Universities have indicated that they will be offering this as an option. The final assessment consists of IEng accreditation.

Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Engineering and manufacturing support technicians support the work of engineers by the provision of technical support and expertise for areas of the engineering and manufacturing function. This typically could include, engineering drawing, computer aided design (CAD), quality control, computerized numerical control programming (CNC), robotics, additive manufacturing, engineering or manufacturing software development and process engineering.

Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

At East Surrey College we offer the following pathways Engineering Machinist, Engineering Maintenance, Engineering Product Design and Development, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technical Support, Engineering Fitter If the role you have in your company does not fit these descriptions, then please contact the college to discuss your needs. We are happy to visit your company to discuss your individual needs and identify which apprenticeship standard meets the requirements of your job role and how the training for this role can be delivered.

General Welder (Arc Processes) Level 2 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Please note you must be employed before applying for an apprenticeship. Welding apprentices will receive formal tuition in our workshop alongside theory sessions to support their role in the workplace. This new apprenticeship standard requires the apprentices to pass nationally recognised welder assessments which will include destructive and non-destructive tests carried out by qualified inspection personnel.

Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Please note you must be employed before applying for an apprenticeship. This Engineering Apprenticeship Standard has been developed by employers in the Power industry. The availability of this standard is being extended into other industries where operation and maintenance engineering is the primary role of the engineering apprentice. East Surrey College is able to support both this standard and the maintenance pathway within the Engineering Technician standard. Please contact the college to discuss your specific requirements.

Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Please note you must be employed before applying for an apprenticeship. Mechatronics maintenance technicians carry out a broad range of activities which may include installation, testing, fault finding, rectification, modifications and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

Metal Fabricator Level 3 Apprenticeship (Apprenticeship)

Please note you must be employed before applying for an apprenticeship. This Apprenticeship is designed for a career in fabricating and welding a range of metal components. Metal Fabricators use a wide range of products such as channels, rolled steel joists, metal sheet, steel plates and columns to assist in their tasks. Metal Fabricators work with a wide range of metals including aluminium, titanium and steel. Work includes manufacturing bridges, oil rigs, ships, petro-chemical installations, cranes, platforms, aircraft, automotive and machinery parts, sheet metal enclosures, equipment supports, and anything that can be fabricated out of metal. Fabricators can work alone or in teams, in factories or on operational sites.

Electrical Power Networks & Distribution Engineering HNC (HE Part Time)

Suitable for those already in the industry wanting to further their technical knowledge within the industry and provides a qualification pathway into senior roles. Suitable for those working in the Electrical Power Industry, e.g. Network Power Engineer, Utilities Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Power Utilisation Engineers

Electrical/Electronic Engineering HNC (HE Part Time)

Suitable for those already in the industry wanting to further their technical knowledge within the industry and provides a qualification pathway into senior roles. Bespoke pathways can be designed when following this pathway. Please see our course leaflet for more information.

Electrical/Electronic Engineering HND Top-Up (HE Part Time)

This 2 year Part-time HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is ideal if you already have knowledge in a chosen field in Electrical/Electronic Engineering but wish to progress as a top-up from a Level 4 HNC to a Level 5 HND. The course has been designed to refine skills and is ideal for aspiring Engineers seeking a professional career status and offers progression to a variety of careers in research and development, design, management, teaching, technical sales or the armed forces.

Embedded Electronics Engineering HND Top-Up (HE Part Time)

This HND builds on the HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and concentrates on how electronics is embedded into hardware to carry out specific functions. This particular programme has been designed to allow progression to Portsmouth University for a Top-Up Degree. This qualification can be included as part of the Degree Apprenticeship in Electronic Embedded Systems.

Engineering (General) HNC (HE Part Time)

The HNC in Engineering (General) provides development to Level 4, which many companies require for Apprenticeship schemes, allowing you to make a positive contribution to future employers and progress further in your career. If you're looking to further develop your technical knowledge and skills, this course will allow you to study a more diverse range of units from digital principles to electrical testing and principles. The course is structured as Part-time to enable you to fit coursework around work commitments.

Engineering (General) HND Top-Up (HE Part Time)

The HND in Engineering (General) provides development from the HNC Level 4, which many companies require for Apprenticeship schemes. If you're looking to further develop your technical knowledge and skills, this course will allow you to study the key knowledge required by all engineers such as engineering design, maths and science.

Mechanical Engineering HNC (HE Part Time)

This course is an opportunity to specialise directly within the mechanical engineering field, using a well-equipped workshop with the latest industry standard packages and software. The HNC in Mechanical Engineering provides an opportunity for technicians to improve their knowledge whilst gaining a qualification at Level 4 including an understanding of areas such as engineering design, engineering maths, mechanical principles and fundamentals of thermodynamics and heat engines.

Mechanical Engineering HND Top-Up (HE Part Time)

This course is designed to support the progression into relevant areas in Mechanical Engineering or provides a flexible route to degree study and a recognised qualification. The course is for you if you would like to work as a technician/technician engineer in mechanical engineering design, manufacture, maintenance and testing.
