5 December 2023
On Tuesday, December 5, a group of ESOL Entry 3 students headed on an exciting trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament. The purpose of the visit was to build an appreciation for democracy, understand how laws are made, and explore the significance of freedom of speech.
During their visit, the students participated in a debate on the topic of prohibiting vapes at The Educational Centre. Following the debate, they watched a short immersive video displayed on three walls in the ‘Round,’ focusing on suffragettes and their protests both inside and outside Parliament.

The students expressed their enjoyment of the short ‘film’ and unanimously agreed that the trip was enjoyable and provided them with a better understanding of the UK Parliament and the importance of democracy and freedom of speech in the UK.
