On Thursday 24 September, Higher Education students from East Surrey College came together to celebrate the completion of their studies at the annual Higher Education Awards Ceremony, held in the college’s Auditorium.
Bringing graduates together
Coming together from across the country to mark this important milestone, our graduates donned their caps and gowns and gathered with their tutors, peers, family and friends to celebrate their achievements.
The ceremony opened with a speech from Assistant Principal Nicola Parrott, followed by a keynote address from Vice Principal Rebecca Taylor, who recognised the hard work, dedication and perseverance of our Higher Education students throughout their studies.
Graduates from the Orbital South Colleges University Centre represented a diverse range of subject areas, including Engineering, Teacher Training, Special Effects and Media, and Hair and Make-up.
Celebrating outstanding achievement
The evening also provided an opportunity to recognise students who had demonstrated exceptional qualities throughout their studies.
One of the ceremony’s standout moments was the presentation of the Resilience and Determination Award to Izobelle Helmsley by Programme Manager Natalie Watkins. Izobelle collected her award with a beaming smile, surrounded by her tutor Karen Fundell, family and close friends who had come to celebrate her achievement.
Reflecting on the evening, Assistant Principal Nicola Parrott said: “A wonderful evening celebrating the success of our HE learners at East Surrey College. A pleasure to be part of.”
