As part of the Macmillan Coffee Morning, East Surrey College hosted a bake sale in support of Macmillan, a charity focused on supporting those diagnosed with cancer.
Our Hair & Beauty department were keen to get involved, and staff and students were encouraged to bake their own sweet treats and baked goods. A wide variety of treats was available on the day, including personalised ESC Salons biscuits and cupcakes
As well as supporting a worthy cause, Hair & Beauty students were able to practise their customer service skills in an environment outside of the salon by serving customers at the bake sale and taking payments.
Macmillan Coffee Morning helps to support the 3.5 million people living in the UK with cancer through emotional, financial, and practical aid and support. Through the bake sales, East Surrey College and our sister college, John Ruskin College, raised just under a fantastic £250 for Macmillan.

Natalie Watkins, Programme Manager for the Salons department, was thrilled at the turnout. “Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a fantastic opportunity to bring students and staff together across both campuses in support of a truly wonderful cause.”
She went on to add, “it was lovely to see our college community come together, enjoy each other’s company, and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make the event such a success!”
Thank you to the Hair & Beauty department and everyone who contributed to this very worthy cause. If you weren’t able to join, you can still support by visiting Macmillan.
