We were delighted to host business leaders from a wide variety of organisations across Surrey and Sussex today for the July Gatwick Diamond Business Members’ event.
Gatwick Diamond Business is an independent membership organisation serving the Gatwick Business community whose mission is to connect, support, promote, inform and boost businesses within the area.
The day kicked off with an interactive educational seminar presented by Kam Dehal, Executive Director – Commercial & Partnerships at East Surrey College.

The seminar focused on the types of training businesses can tap into, including T levels, apprenticeships, placements, bespoke tailored training and short adult programmes, to develop careers in the workplace.
Additionally, Kam highlighted how training is essential for managing gaps in skills, upskilling and reskilling current staff, professionalisation of qualifications and enriching well-being and teams within the workplace – all factors key to having a balanced and motivated staff culture at the heart of businesses.
Sue Betts, Chief of Staff and Head of Client Relations at Wilton Park, commented: “This was my first event Gatwick Diamond Business event, and I loved the energy, relaxed environment, and location. There were a lot of takeaways from the educational seminar hosted by Kam – it’s opened my eyes to the world of apprenticeships, and it’s definitely something we will be exploring in the future.”
The seminar was followed by the main Members’ Meeting where speakers including Jayne Dickinson, Chief Executive of Orbital South Colleges, Simon Bland, Head of Economic Prosperity at Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, and Jeff Downs, Chairman of the Gatwick Diamond Business Executive Council addressed the packed auditorium.

Afterwards, members had a chance to network with each other over a delicious buffet lunch.

Sally Brown, General Manager at Gatwick Diamond Business, said “We’ve been really looked after today. The attentiveness of the staff was second to none. It was a great space for our meetings and networking and the food was fabulous”.
