Black History Month at ESC

Black History Month at ESC

Date: 31 October 2019

This October, departments across the College came together to acknowledge Black History Month, an annual observance that promotes and celebrates Black contributions to society.

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) featured a display (pictured) that included facts and stories of noted individuals, past and present, as well as works of literature.

In curriculum, Hair & Beauty students worked on research projects, with students sourcing information on influential black people such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King and Stormzy.

Students in IT also took part in tutorials that involved learning about inherent prejudices and black people who have contributed to diversifying the IT industry.
