Engineering Maintenance Level 3 Apprenticeship

Engineering Maintenance Level 3 Apprenticeship - James

James, an Engineering Apprentice working at Gatwick Airport, was recently awarded an IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) bursary, which will support him throughout his studies.

The award comes following his work as a STEM Ambassador, which involves taking part in events and promoting STEM courses as an option to learners.

Amongst the many reasons for choosing an Apprenticeship, James commented that: “I’m a more hands-on person, and learning whilst earning and working seemed like the best option for me!”

The progression opportunities are also a big factor, as James is hoping to progress up to a management career within the Engineering field.

Whilst completing his Level 3 qualification, James has found that "College and work support each other really well - I'm able to really see things develop."

James' Apprenticeship programme at Gatwick Airport Ltd involves rotation around different departments, and he is currently working with electronics - “I’m really enjoying it! I love being in the workshop, and I can apply what I’m learning to my work.”
