Based in our fully equipped workshops, this course covers the theory and practice of Bricklaying in a realistic environment. Learn how to build structures, handle and store resources, work as part of a team, prepare bricklaying materials and components as well as health & safety on site.
UNITS/TOPICS COVERED:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associatedindustries
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication withothers
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Setting out for basic masonrystructures
- Mix constructionmaterials
- Construct block, brick and cavitywalling
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
- Pens, pencils and a notepad
To meet health and safety requirements within our realistic work environment, all students will be required to wear college uniform. Steel toe capped boots must be worn at all time when in the workshops
4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and Maths (considerations made on a case-by-case basis).
Bricklaying Level 2 Diploma. It can also be used as a progression route to achieving an NVQ or Apprenticeship in Bricklaying.
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP and are studying a full-time course, do not have to pay a course fee.
Students aged 19+ (without an EHCP) may have to pay tuition fees. Please contact Client Services for more information.
