On Tuesday 3 March East Surrey College continued to put on a host of events to recognise National Careers Week, providing guidance to students across our community.
Our day began with a visit from the National Careers Service for our ESOL adults. The session covered how to make good career choices, support on where to look for vacancies, and how best to prepare for a job application.

We also welcomed Chris Rowe, a volunteer at Redhill FC, who spoke to our Sport students about the wide range of opportunities available at the club. Chris highlighted the diverse career pathways within the sports industry and outlined the club’s own work experience placement programme, designed to give students a valuable head start when applying for jobs after leaving college.
Placement opportunities at the club include roles in coaching, refereeing, marketing and photography, hospitality, and groundskeeping – offering students practical, hands-on experience across multiple areas of the sport sector.

Meanwhile, our Foundation Learning students welcomed local councillor Johnathan Essex, who spoke about his day-to-day role in supporting and representing local residents.
The group’s participation made for an engaging and interactive session, helping students to better understand how councillors can support them not only in their future careers, but also in their wider lives within the community.
An event was also held at Stellantis Bank to introduce the company to Business T Level and AAT students, highlighting ongoing work experience opportunities across various departments. Eighteen students attended alongside tutors Nick Nathanail and Simon Troake, with the HR team also on hand to answer students questions.
