On Tuesday 16 September, East Surrey College kicked off the new academic year with its annual Freshers Fair, held in the Winter Garden.
The event brought together new and returning students for a range of activities and the opportunity to connect with organisations in the local community. Entertainment included basketball shoot outs, body art application, free popcorn as well as many interactive stands with freebies.

Our enrichment team had their own stand and spoke with students about the Autumn Activity Programme, joining the Student Union and how to become a Student Governor. Representatives from ESDAS, Surrey Police, The Lucy Rayner Foundation and With You were also on hand to share information and resources to support students’ well-being and personal development.
Tina Renshaw from ESDAS, a local domestic abuse service, said it was ‘fantastic being able to come in and have conversations with all the young people, talking to them about healthy relationships. They’ve been really engaged, asking lots of questions, so yes, we’ve been really honored to come in today’.
The Freshers Fair is a brilliant way to start the academic year, and we can’t wait for many more community events throughout the year. A massive thank you to our Enrichment and Quality team for their commitment to bringing the Freshers Fair to life.
