The annual Christmas Hair Competition was back for another year as our Level 3 Hairdressing learners took on a challenge to create a Christmas look of their choice resembling their “Christmas tradition”.
They had 2 hours to complete the task and used a combination of setting and styling techniques, ornamentation, and clothing to complete their final looks.
No two entries were the same, and all were judged by Wendy Davidson, the Escape Salon Receptionist and Hair and Beauty Assessor. It was a difficult decision, but the winners were chosen for their creativity, precision, and innovation.

First place went to Erika Gillick for an impressive use of ornamentation in the model’s hair, transforming them into a beautiful Christmas wreath.
Second place went to Student Rep Sadie Atkins, who impressed the judges with her experimental use of baubles and expert hair styling and setting skills.
Lilly Gardener secured third place for her impressive festive look which incorporated tinsel and baubles. The entry didn’t end with the model’s hair, as the model sported a festive elf jumper to complete the look.
Tutor and Hairdressing Lecturer Debbie Lilywhite reflected on the competition, commenting, “all students worked hard preparing and planning, which illustrated how their creativity has developed over the past few months. I’m very proud of them all!”
